UPDATE - Burglary in Hest Bank

Good evening,

In relation to my update yesterday about a burglary in Hest Bank village, I can update you that today a 17 year old male from Morecambe has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and at this time he remains in police custody.

One of the two stolen motor vehicles – a Volkswagen Polo – has been located and recovered by police in the local area on Wednesday night. The black BMV has still not been recovered.

There has been extra patrols in the village and beyond to disrupt and deter these individuals. Including support from my colleagues in the dog unit and traffic department. The later who had located the BMW last night but unfortunately due to the manner of the driving by the driver the vehicle was allowed to go for the safety of other road users.

I appreciate these types of crimes cause understandable concern in the wider community but please rest assured your police force is working hard to investigate it and disrupt these criminals and although we cannot always share the finer details, action is being taken.

Please also be aware there was a report of a burglary overnight Wednesday into Thursday at an address in Bolton-Le-Sands. At this time there is nothing to suggest the two may be linked or not.

Remain vigilant, and if you see any suspicious people or vehicles on your street, I would recommend calling 999 at the time.

Finally for those who were able to attend The Hest Bank Inn today to speak to me about your concerns, thank you for coming. I hope it was of some use. I also must thank Josh at the pub for allowing us to use his venue. Apologies for those who could not attend and I understand the argument that it should be done outside of the normal working day. However this is generally our busier time.

As discussed at the meeting the more information you tell us the more we can try to prevent these things happening in the future. Facebook groups are a great tool to warn your neighbours, but don’t forget the police need to know too as we are not able to join social medias groups to monitor the posts.

Another point discussed at the meeting was the NICE2SHARE where you can registered with us if you have a CCTV camera. We don’t have access to your cameras, it just allows us to know which properties have cameras to help in our investigations in the future. NICE2Share | Lancashire Constabulary
